Move to Berlin in 2010

After more than forty-five years in Darmstadt, the Federal ­German Association of the Gypsum Industry is now destined for Berlin, with its move to the German capital scheduled for 01.07.2010. An extraordinary meeting of the association’s ­members in Düsseldorf in mid-November adopted the resolution to relocate the federal association headquarters from Darmstadt to Berlin. As Hans Hesse, the association’s director, noted, “Closeness to political circles, the opportunity for continuous direct contact with the relevant decision-makers and also, not least of all, savings on travel costs”, were the overriding factors in the decision to move. Next year, the federal association will bid good bye to Darmstadt, its home for more than forty-five years, and move into the building of the ­Federal Association of the Mineral Building ­Materials Industry at Kochstrasse 6–7, Berlin. From its new headquarters, the association will continue its intensive promotion of the interests of its members and, thanks to direct proximity to the umbrella organization, will benefit even more from close cooperation and the greater influence provided by this joint presence.
