FILTECH 2009 – the internationally leading specialist event in the field of filtration and separation technologies – will be held under the motto “Discover New Markets” in Wiesbaden from 13.–15.10. 2009. The FILTECH is aimed at an international technical audience and is, at its Wiesbaden venue, ideally accessible from all regions of the globe via Frankfurt’s nearby international airport.

This technical fair showcases internationally active companies and market leaders in the filtration and separation industry, and in the field of particle measurement. Decision-makers in purchasing and sales, design, development and research come here to learn in detail about the latest innovations and trends in these sectors (Fig. 1). This year, more than 150 companies will be presenting their products and services on over 5200 m2 of exhibition space. The international program will be rounded off by joint stands from China, Russia and the USA. The FILTECH’s growth course clearly continues, with the addition this year of an extra exhibition hall – and more than 75  % of the space provided by three halls has already been allocated.

The four parallel sessions congress, with some 200 papers from 36 countries, assures a representative cross-section of up-to-date research results, worldwide developments and new solutions in processes for classical mechanical liquid separation, gas/solids separation and membrane-based separation, ranging from preparation methods for minerals, to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and chemistry and including environmental technology and water purification. Not only the latest results in fundamental research for the description and simulation of separation processes, but also innovative equipment and process developments are to be highlighted. Even today, the success of the FILTECH 2009 is reflected in the expansion of the congress by five keynote papers and two short courses. The congress is organized by a high-ranking scientific committee, chaired by Dr. Harald Anlauf, of the Technical University of Karlsruhe, and Prof. Dr. Eberhard Schmidt, of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. The congress language is English, and the latest agenda can be found at www.Filtech.de; a special Early Bird Tariff is available for registrations made by June 12.

A direct link between the congress suite and the exhibition halls is only one of many innovations featured at the FILTECH 2009. The concept of a cross-sectional event, reflecting the entire diverse range of potentials for the solution of separation problems in both theory and practice, and the strategy of providing as many international technical associations as possible with a platform for expert interchange under the neutral auspices of an independent exhibition organization, have proved their worth. A top-quality agenda, the breadth and topicality of the subjects covered, unparalleled exhibition facilities, extremely good transport links and, last but not least, the congenial atmosphere of a major spa resort, have made the FILTECH an event of great value for all participants. With significantly more than 50  % foreign expert visitors from over forty countries, the FILTECH offers exhibitors and congress participants unique opportunities of entering new markets, and an outstanding forum for international interchange.
