Exchanging experiences and networking

Organized by Evonik Fibres (former Inspec Fibres), the 9th Inter­national Conference on High Temperature Filtration, again turned out to be the top event for participants from around the globe (Fig. 1). From September 24th to 26th 2008, a total of 86 experts from five continents, representing 18 nationalities, met to collect information about the main topic “Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels”.
 
Plant manufacturers, end users, manufacturers of filter media, representatives of universities and research laboratories, pre­sented up-to-date technology as well as research projects. The conference hotel, Gut Brandlhof in Saalfelden/Austria (Fig. 2), was the perfect background to ensure that the conference was also a social highlight. The evening events and the breaks in between the presentations were used intensively to exchange experiences, for networking or commencing new business ­contacts.

During a tight program totalling twelve presentations (see box), a wide range of topics about coal, biomass and alternative ­fuels were covered. Presentations from China, Australia, SouthAfrica, Europe and North America showed that the topics are of worldwide interest. In times of global business and worldwide activities, the conference organized by Evonik Fibres is a successful platform for companies already engaged in business around the globe or for those planning to do so in the future. Evonik ­Fibres is already looking forward to the next conference which is scheduled for 2011.
