In March 2012, KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG, acting as General Contractor, was able to secure an order from Straits Cement, a subsidiary of the Malaysian YTL Group, for the construction of a 5000-t/d cement production plant in Malaysia. Gebr. Pfeiffer SE was awarded the contract by KHD to supply the vertical roller mills for grinding cement raw material and coal. The first plant was supplied to YTL in 1997.

The design of the new raw mill was supposed to be as close as possible to that of the existing raw mill. Therefore, special focus was given to the implementation of technical innovation whilst keeping the former design. The grinding elements and other main components will be interchangeable with the ones of the existing plant, thus facilitating spare parts management.

The MPS 4750 B raw mill to be set up is designed for a capacity of 300 t/h of cement raw material ground to a product fineness of 12 % R 90 µm. The coal mill of the type MPS 2800 BK will be capable of grinding 35 t/h of coal.
