Maerz Finelime Kiln for CEFAS S.A.

The Maerz Finelime Kiln ordered by the Argentine producer of lime and building materials CEFAS S.A. was recently commissioned at its Padre Bueno Plant in San Juan Province (Fig.). The kiln, equipped with a dual firing system for natural gas and petcoke dust, is now in industrial production and currently fired with petcoke. The following performance and quality parameters have been achieved: 350 t/d daily production, < 870 kcal/kg of lime heat consumption, < 3 % residual CO2 in the lime, < 140 s reactivity (t60-value) of burnt lime. Based on these figures the “Acceptance Certificate” was...

Based on these figures the “Acceptance Certificate” was jointly established and signed by CEFAS and Maerz. As soon as natural gas is available, kiln operation with both gas and simultaneous firing of natural gas and petcoke will be started under the supervision of a Maerz process engineer. The kiln will then be operated in “Sandwich Mode” with two stone fractions at the contractual production capacity of 500 t/d of quicklime.
