Gypsum fibre boards according to DIN EN 15283-2

The industrial division “gypsum boards” within the Federal German Association of the Gypsum Industry published a leaflet as regards the trowelling of gypsum fibre boards according to DIN EN 15283-2. The leaflet will be an efficient tool for architects, planners and practicians to create uniform and clear contractual arrangements.

In practice, frequently different, for the most part subjective, standards are applied to agree upon a desired surface quality. The new leaflet, in particular for the trowelling of gypsum fibre boards according to DIN EN 15283-2, wants to facilitate the step to binding and understandable specifications due to an exactly defined division into four parts. The goal is to simplify the cooperation between architects, planners and practicians. The leaflet describes jointing of gypsum fibre boards with filling joints or flattened edges as well as with adhesive joints. Additional remarks on planning as well as execution and on invitations to tender round off the leaflet.

The leaflet “Verspachtelung von Gipsfaserplatten – Oberflächengüten 2.1“ (Trowelling of gypsum fibre boards – surfaces qualities) is available free of charge (up to 10 copies) at Bundesverband der Gipsindustrie e.V. by fax under 06151/36682-22, by e-mail under info@gips.de or as PDF file at www.gips.de.

EUROGYPSUM: New brochure

Eurogypsum, the European Federation of National Associations of Gypsum Products Manufacturers, based in Brussels, will publish a 50-page brochure with the title “Biodiversity Stewardship in Gypsum Quarrying: our Best Practices” in 2010. This brochure describes the best practices implemented throughout Europe for conserving and adding value to the biological eco-systems during and after quarrying”, explains Jean-Pierre Clavel, president of Eurogypsum. “It also demonstrates that quarrying has a positive environmental impact on the eco-systems providing efficient solutions to the loss of biodiversity and also increasing biological diversity during and after use of the quarry.” The brochure includes various examples of the renaturalisation and environmentally sound use of gypsum quarries in some European countries. The brochure is also available at the BV Gips. For more information refer to www.eurogypsum.org.
