The work‘s more than two hundred pages familiarize the reader with the fundamental aspects of assessment, damage analysis, and the planning and performance of remedial work using the versatile building material, gypsum.
One of the many fascinating challenges involved in the modernization of buildings is that every individual property presents a unique situation, demanding an individual approach. The new manual will assist architects, planners and contractors in solving the most diverse problems associated with interior work using gypsum finish plaster. It examines in detail gypsum as a building material, historical building techniques using gypsum, and appropriate renovation and repair methods.
Much space is devoted to assessment and pretreatment of substrates – a highly critical factor in older buildings – and the performance of plastering work. This practical manual, containing building-practice-orientated sections focusing on fire safety, kitchen and bathroom applications, the use of radiant panel heating and cooling systems, and the repair of water damage, is a fitting overview work for the tasks of the refurbishing planner, and also contains much useful information for the application of gypsum finishing plasters in new building projects.
The IGB manual can be obtain for 10 € plus shipping costs from the Federal German Association of the Gypsum Industry. Orders can be placed by telefax at +49(0)6151 36682-22, by e-mail from info@gips.de, or by download from www.gips.de.
